On the Edge of Glory?
After great success in its inaugural year (and having been resurrected from its watery tomb), the Avant Convention Cup returns in 2012. Medical Schools across Australia will be placed in competition against one another in a variety of tasks and competitions, with the highest scoring Medical School ultimately being crowned the winner of the Avant Convention Cup at the Gala Ball.

Early Attendance: Awarded to the first 100 (unique) people to enter the Plenary Hall each morning. 20 points per person NEHTA Debating Competition: Awarded according to how far each university progresses through the competition. 600 points for winner

100 points for 1st round loss
0 points if no team is fielded
100 points will also be awarded for best speaker in each debate
NEHTA Research Presentation Competition: Awarded to winners and finalists. 400 points for 1st place

Perth Laser Vision’s Australia’s Brainiest Medical Student: One medical student per university will represent their delegation in a knockout competition to award the title of ‘Australia’s Brainiest Medical Student’. 600 points for 1st place

A group must consist of 3 or more individuals wearing matching or related costumes. To be eligible the group must arrive at the social venue together 200 points per group Other

Sponsorship Sponsors Trail: Awarded for completed and submitted sponsor trail forms 20 points per person/form Miscellaneous Convention Committee Discretionary Points: Further points will be awarded at the discretion of the Convention Committee for deeds that are deemed worthy of receiving points. The amount of points awarded will be at the discretion of the Convention Committee. Misdemeanours: At the discretion of the Convention Committee, points may be taken away for misdemeanours by a university’s delegation during the Convention week. The amount of points taken will be at the discretion of the Convention Committee.
